What is Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Agape Transport Passengers

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) refers to transportation services provided to individuals who need medical care but do not require emergency ambulance services. These services are typically used by patients who have mobility challenges, lack access to a personal vehicle, or need specialized transport to attend medical appointments, dialysis treatments, physical therapy, or other healthcare-related visits.

Key Features of NEMT:

  1. For Non-Emergency Situations – Unlike emergency medical services (EMS), NEMT is for scheduled, routine medical needs rather than urgent or life-threatening conditions.
  2. Specialized Vehicles – May include wheelchair-accessible vans, stretcher-equipped vehicles, or vehicles with trained drivers to assist patients.
  3. Eligibility – Often used by Medicaid beneficiaries, elderly individuals, or disabled persons who qualify for transportation assistance. Note: Agape Transportation does not accept Medicaid, Medicare, or any other types of insurance. But we will provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your individual carrier for reimbursement as applicable.
  4. Types of Services – Ambulatory transportation, wheelchair transportation, stretcher services.
  5. Coverage & Payment – NEMT is often covered by Medicaid and some private insurance providers, though coverage varies by state and plan.

Who Uses NEMT?

  • Seniors or disabled individuals needing assistance to reach medical appointments.
  • Patients requiring regular treatments like dialysis, chemotherapy, or physical therapy.
  • Individuals without reliable transportation who need to visit doctors, hospitals, or clinics.

NEMT helps reduce missed medical appointments, improves healthcare access, and ensures that patients receive necessary treatments without unnecessary stress.

A season to remember

A season to remember

The Valley of Lights was a beautiful sight. Being my first time through them, I was blessed to be able serve residents throughout various organizations in the community. The Oh’s and Ah’s were wonderful to hear as residents saw the lights. In speaking with several residents, I have learned so much of this amazing county and its residents. The laughter and joy during these transports were the highlight of the season.

“I am so amazed at how the Lord can bring joy to others just by serving in such a small way. Special thanks goes to Servants Heart, Good Samaritan Prescott Valley, Granite Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Highgate Senior Living, who assisted in organizing these rides.

The Joy of Partnerships

The joy of Partnerships

In listening to Robert Morris from gateway church, I have come to understand what it means to have a partnership with God. All throughout the Bible we find that God wants us to partner with Him to create and understand our purpose in this life and the next one. In many ways, God wants to partner with us to give us the best He has to offer. Submitting to Jesus first allows us to see bits and pieces of God’s divine plan for our lives.

As most of our friends and family know, Jen and I have taken on a new journey in our lives. This is the season to partner with God.

We both have had struggles and difficulties but the God we serve, who created heaven and earth, is faithful through it all. It is so amazing to step back and watch His greatness in action. I have had to learn to live on less, love more, trust in Him more than ever and become a house husband (while starting on the partnership God has called me into). Friends and family know me well enough to say, “he’s a hard worker”, “he will make it”, “he’s strong”. Though those are all good to have said at the right time, although it is hard to imagine that through my submission to God, He has been everyone of those attributes in my life. Partnering with Him wasn’t at all what I thought of partnering. The definition itself tells us a partnership is “a formal arrangement by two or more parties to manage and operate a business and share its profits”. God has done all those things already. In our submission we allow Him full control over His creation (Mankind). God doesn’t need us, “God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth,” but He wants to partner with us.

We have to stop living in the fear of stepping out of the boat, and start living in the resurrecting partnership to walk out on the waters, not worrying if we will sink. Go in head first and watch God perform beyond your wildest dreams.
